Stadtwerke Jena is further expanding its free Wi-Fi tender in the city: With the Ernst-Abbe-Platz and the Camsdorfer Ufer, two further central locations are now connected to the MeinJena WLAN.

At Ernst-Abbe-Platz, the combination of MeinJena WiFi and the eduroam network has created a high-performance WiFi location in the centre of the city - with added value for students, citizens and guests of the city. While university members can use eduroam, the MeinJena WLAN is available to all other users free of charge.

Camsdorfer Ufer will also be enhanced by the new Wi-Fi tender: The location is one of the most heavily frequented areas along the Saale river and the digital connection will make it an even better place to spend time.

Further locations will follow soon

The new Wi-Fi points are part of the ongoing expansion of MeinJena Wi-Fi. Further locations are already in preparation: Enver-?im?ek-Platz in Winzerla and Westsportplatz will also receive free WiFi in the coming weeks. The four new locations bring the total number of free Wi-Fi locations provided by Stadtwerke Jena to 170. A total of around 15,000 euros will be invested in the expansion this year, 80 per cent of which will be funded by the Thüringer Aufbaubank.

MeinJena app at a glance
The MeinJena app was initiated by Stadtwerke Jena in 2017 and has around 36,000 users every month. In addition to free WiFi, it offers up-to-date information about the city, event tips and mobility planning functions. The expansion of the WiFi network is a central component in further strengthening digital participation in Jena and increasing the quality of life in public spaces.
