SchwartzeThe ongoing datafication and digitalization of society mean that data increasingly shape our world and already play a crucial role in our everyday lives, often without our awareness. Current developments show that methods of machine learning, as a foundation for artificial intelligence (AI), are increasingly infiltrating all areas of life, such as through generative AI, recommendation systems, or facial recognition.
Skills for the strategic use of data and AI, their conscious application in various contexts, and critical questioning ("Data & AI Literacy") are therefore essential qualifications. These skills are not only relevant for education, science, or specific expert groups but also count among the "Future Skills" that are becoming increasingly important in professional and societal contexts. This includes both methodological and technical skills, as well as competencies in reflecting on ethical, legal, and societal aspects.
