Chinese Scientific Datacenter

This page introduces selected Chinese scientific data repositories that are accessible from outside China. It helps researchers identify suitable repositories, understand access conditions, and navigate the platforms with the help of short video tutorials.

As early as the 2000s, the People’s Republic of China began developing the National Science and Technology Infrastructure Platform (NSTI 国家科技基础条件平台) and established the?China Science and Technology Resource Sharing net (中国科技资源共享网).

In 2018, the State Council of China issued an administrative regulation on scientific data [国务院公厅关于印发科学数据管理办法的通知。索引号：000014349/2018-00052External link]. In response to this government document, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) established corresponding data centers; as of 2021, CAS’s research data management was overseen by one main center, 18 discipline-specific centers, and 13 institute-based centers. Around the same time, 20 data centers were recognized by the Chinese government as National Scientific Data Repositories [国家科学数据中心]. As a result, there are two main providers of scientific databases in China; 11 of the CAS’s data repositories have been designated as national repositories and are listed by both providers:
