Balduin Benesch has been serving as a DAAD long-term lecturer and deputy director at the Sino-German Institute of Law (CDIR) at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) in Beijing since February 2024. His connection to China dates back to 2012, and he studied at Tongji University in Shanghai and Peking University in Beijing.

The Sino-German Institute of Law (CDIR) is a joint project of CUPL and seven German partner universities: the University of Freiburg, the Goethe University Frankfurt, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the University of Hamburg, the University of Cologne, and, since 2014, the University of Münster and Humboldt University of Berlin. It is funded by the DAAD as part of the “German Law in Asia” project.?
