About the speaker:

Simon Runkel studied Geography, Peace and Conflict Studies, Psychology and Art History. He completed his doctorate at the University of Bonn in 2015. He then researched and taught at various institutions of higher education and worked for a private sector training and consulting company. He has been at the University of Jena since 2019, initially as a junior professor and since last year as W2 Professor of Social Geography. His research focus|main research areas include political social geography and geographical risk and security research.
