(1) The core of the IDEAS? modular system consists of scholarships for study visits abroad. The focus of these scholarship visits is to deepen and familiarise oneself with teacher training-specific content abroad at a partner university with a teacher training profile. In order to promote the practical (professional) skills of the scholarship holders, practical components at local schools are also integrated into these semesters abroad at the host university.
(2) One-week seminar excursions form the second major pillar of the IDEAS? modular system. The project thus responds to experience that short-term mobility is of particular interest to teacher training students. The seminar excursions are also supplemented by digital co-teaching phases between student groups from the University of Jena and the corresponding partner universities. This blended mobility makes the internationalisation experience as intensive as possible and further promotes subject-specific cooperation between students and teachers.
(3) In a virtual simulation game developed specifically for teacher training students, teacher training students from Jena meet students from other countries and immerse themselves in an international, multilingual and intercultural teaching and learning environment at a fictional school. The simulation game serves to develop core competencies in intercultural cooperation and transfer them into school practice.
(4) Digital seminar formats and co-teaching elements are another way of internationalising teaching in teacher training. This involves joint teaching in the digital space between lecturers from two institutions. Teacher training-related content from the University of Jena is thus incorporated into the international canon and supplemented by international input from the relevant academic disciplines.
(5) The already established series of events ‘Talks for IDEAS’ continues to offer an international forum for academic exchange on cross-disciplinary topics relevant to teacher training.
