Cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience pervade all aspects of human experience and behavior. Our MSc degree opens the door to this innovative and interdisciplinary field, building on the B.Sc. degree in psychology. This research-orientated M.Sc. puts a focus on modern experimental and neuroscientific methods. The multifaceted module plan offers a wide spectrum of neuroscientific, cognitive, social, developmental and clinical topic areas, and conveys fundamental basic knowledge as well as applied qualifications. In project seminars, students conduct hands-on empirical research on individual topics in small groups. The degree course offers intense and individual supervision of students via a very favourable student-supervisor ratio.
Several additional general modules convey fundamental methodological and diagnostic skills. Examples include methods for systematic analysis, integration and evaluation of scientific literature, development and application of diagnostic tools and procedures to test scientific hypotheses, application of innovative and novel technologies, and data science.
The course can be studied in English, and the bulk of teaching is conveyed in English. We strive to promote an active exchange between international students, lecturers, and researchers. The Institute for Psychology holds an excellent network with many productive collaborations with external organizations, in Jena, Germany, and world-wide.
The focus on modern cognitive science and cognitive neuroscience is a distinctive feature of this degree course, which qualifies for an internationally demanded professional profile with great future perspectives. Refine your expertise in
