EC2U Topics and Fields of Activity
EC2U is a European University Alliance. Building it up is the current project.
Foundation: EC2U is based on cooperative structures that cross borders and institutions and include all members of the local university communities--students, teachers, researchers and administrative employees.
Thematic pillars: EC2Us education and research activities are designed to meet global challenges, contributing to three of the seventeen UN Sustainable Development GoalsExternal link. Joint Masters Degree programms and Virtual Institutes are being established in the fields of Good Health and Well-being (UNSDG 3), Quality Education (UNSDG 4), Sustainable Cities and Communities (UNSDG 11) and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (UNSDG 16).

Good Health and Well-Being (UNSDG 3)
"Healthy Campus: Under this label, we are developing holistic health optimization for all members of the EC2U University! The idea is to assess the health status, implement fitting interventions and evaluate their effectiveness. Thus, students and administrative and scientific employees are all incorporated and part of the optimization process. Scientific personnel, as well as students, offer health optimization seminars and workshops for themselves and all members of the respective university. Data are gathered from all participating EC2U universities, and evaluations, research results, as well as intervention strategies, are exchanged across universities and countries. This is a truly holistic approach since health is a common topic for all of us and everywhere!"

Quality Education (UNSDG 4)
We promote intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogue: Through the development of international Master's degree programs and through research activities of the transnational "Virtual Institute", which currently focuses on questions of "language policy". The aim is to promote cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe - in academic life, but also in society in general. We welcome everyone’s participation in shaping the European future!

Sustainable Cities and Communities (UNSDG 11)
The Virtual Institute for Sustainable Cities and Communities (VISCC) brings together innovative research and practical application: The universities of Jena, Ia?i, and Turku are collaborating on research to assess urban heat islands in Europe. Through our annual hybrid networking event, we foster dialogue among students, researchers, federal agencies, and companies from the EC2U Alliance. With our now well-established educational programs, such as the EC2U Autumn School on "Geographic Data Science for Sustainability" and the EC2U school project on "Assessing urban heat islands using Earth observation data and GIS", we are making an active contribution to sustainable urban development and increasing resilience

Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (UNSDG 16)
Through our joint master’s program, ‘Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions,’ we equip students from various disciplines to analyze the challenges facing modern societies and help shape them constructively. In doing so, we combine research, international collaboration, and practical training to educate experts in sustainable and inclusive governance, thereby contributing to the creation of a resilient Europe for the long term.

Campus Life and Community
EC2U Community: EC2U is a network of European universities that aims to forge closer links between science and society. Not only the universities themselves, but also students, city councils and businesses are actively involved in this process.
A key element of this commitment is the organisation of EC2U forums, which take place annually at one of the nine partner universities. These forums are open to the entire university community as well as to the citizens of the respective city. The aim is to develop sustainable solutions to societal challenges while actively involving the local community in scientific discourse.
EC2U Campus Life in Jena has a home at the 欧洲杯投注地址_明升体育-竞彩足球比分推荐 Centre, a multifunctional space to learn, have fun, communicate with each other. At the Science Contest teams from EC2U universities compete and show how scientists solve problems. To help students find their way around the “European Campus”, the "My Mobile Tutor App" is full of useful information about all the EC2U Universities and Cities, local culture and campus life. Join the EC2U campus in Jena!

We build bridges within society. We encourage students, Europe's talented young people, to embark on their career paths effectively and confidently with the Career Certificate and the Entrepreneurial Academy. We bring research to schools through School Research Projects and promote education in Europe through classroom internships in the teaching sector. We strengthen Europe's commitment by providing opportunities for dialogue and networking. Why not take a look at our think tanks or the Engagement Stage?
